Earth Day

This is in response to Melanie over at MMB. I loved her blog on Earth Day and I wanted her to know I am committed to her ideas of saving the planet.

The 10 tips for going green:

1. She says not to do laundry.
I say: Love this idea! It would make more sense for me to just go buy a new wardrobe instead, right?

2. She says not to dry hair with a blow dryer because that also saves electricity.
I say: My only blow dryer was my older sister's and she got it in middle school... She's 41 now! Haven't I already saved the landfills on this one?

3. She says that the magic of mother spit is better on the environment and is a better cleaner then vinegar anyday.
I say: I'm gonna need more spit!! Seriously, you haven't seen my kitchen lately! And with all the water I'd have to drink to do that, I may defeat the purpose behind Earth Day.

4. She says that she drives everywhere she goes in order to save the landfill from all the worn out bicycles that get thrown away.
I say: Why go anywhere? Staying in bed all day would use SO much less energy!

5. She says that she doesn't take her garbage out to save landfill space.
I say: Too much work anyway. See my response to #4.

6. She says she only changes her baby's diaper once a day, thus also saving the landfills.
I say: N is way ahead of me on that one. Instead of peeing in his diapers, he prefers to take them off and pee on the floor anyway.

7. She says she doesn't read the newspaper. Not even online because it would take electricity.
I say: They deliver that @#%! free paper anyway. What do I do with THAT?

8. She says she doesn't let her child do his spelling homework...paper kills trees.
I say: 3 of my children are now your greatest fans (and no longer care how much time I spend on the computer as long as I get advice like that!)

9. She says she uses the organic fertilizer provided by the neighbors dog.
I say: To be fair, I would have to throw it back in their yard. After all, their dog produced it, they should get to use it.

10. She says that they let lights burn day and night because CFC bulbs take so long to burn out, the industry might not be able to support itself.
I say: I'm in, mostly because my kids do this anyway, and someone's gotta stimulate the economy.

Just trying to help!
